Patrick F. Mahon, M.D.

Dr. Mahon graduated from the University College in Galway, Ireland in 1960 and completed an internship in Chicago. He practice general medicine in Springfield from 1961-1963 and subsequently completed his radiology residency at the Mayo Clinic in 1966. He joined Springfield Radiologists, S.C. in January of 1967 and provides services to St. John’s Hospital. Dr. Mahon is certified by the American Board of Radiology and is a Fellow in the American College of Radiology. He holds numerous national and regional medical and radiological memberhips. Dr. Mahon held the office of President of Springfield Radiologists, S.C. from 1985 through 2005. He is one of the founding radiologists of the SIU Department of Radiology serving as Co-Chair from 1971 to 1972. He served as Chairman of the SIU Department of Radiology from 1972 to 2000. He also held the position of Radiology Residency Program Director of SIU School of Medicine from its inception in 1977 through 2000. He holds the academic rank of Professor of Radiology. Dr. Mahon was very active in the medico-political arena where he has served on multiple committees with the Illinois State Medical Society and Sangamon County Medical Society. He also held the position of Chair for the United Way Campaign and was a member of the Board of Directors. He also served as Chairman of the Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce.
